The Laughton Company was founded in 1972 by Jim Laughton and is currently under the management of Mitch Laughton. As affiliates of NFP Corp., one of the largest strategic alliance of independent brokers in the United States (*Ranked 9th based on total revenue June 2013)  The professionals at the Laughton Company specialize in corporate benefits consulting, including employee medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, executive benefit planning, deferred compensation and retirement plans, including 401(k), collaborative design and implementation of Cafeteria plans, HSA's, HRA's , FSA's and human resource assistance tools, in addition to customized business succession plans and estate analysis with offices in Reno and Las Vegas.

Mitch Laughton, CLU, ChFC, AIF - President**

Mitch joined The Laughton Company more than 20 years ago and is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), with FINRA Securities licenses. As a consultant in the employee benefits field I have assisted over 500+ companies in designing, implementing and monitoring their benefit programs and their personal planning. Our goal is to help the business owner and their key employees in achieving continued financial growth and success both personally and professionally.I have extensive experience in the following industries: Law / Legal, Accounting, Professional Service, Non Profit, Gaming, Retail, Manufacturing, Technology Development and Data and Programming and Venture Capital backed businesses, Publicly Traded Companies.


James Laughton, CLU, ChFC - Founder*

Jim founded The Laughton Co. in 1972. He has been recognized nationally for his achievements in the life and health insurance industry. Jim is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) as well as the Association of Advanced Life Underwriter (AALU). Jim continues to be active in the community and serves as the Pipe Major of the Reno District Firefighters Bagpipe Band. While pursuing his personal interests he still finds time to maintain client relationships and serve on the Board of Directors of several corporations.



Brian E. Feleciano, Vice President of Employee Benefits

Brian is located in the Reno office as Vice President of Employee Benefits.  With more than 14 years as an employee benefits consultant for large national and international consulting firms, he joined our regional, independently-owned practice to attain greater flexibility and creativity for serving the needs of clients. While he delivers our services through one collaborative source, he further contracts multiple specialty-disciplines as needed to bring clients world class expertise in every discipline, with the high-level support of local account and compliance management.



Karen Logan, Account Manager

Karen has been with The Laughton Company for more than 27 years. She is responsible for servicing the small employer group accounts which includes conducting employee benefit meetings, producing customized benefit brochures as well as handling customer services issues. Karen works under three producers and assists in employee benefit proposal development, monthly claims experience reports and sending large groups out to bid to the marketplace.



Debby VanDenburgh, Account Manager

Debby joined The Laughton Company with ten years of experience in employee benefits.  She provides Account Management services to small and large employers, statewide and nationally.  Debby works with our consultants to ensure client satisfaction, legal compliance and employee communication and engagement through a variety of tools and services designed to protect your health and wealth. 




Carter Laughton, Individual Health Insurance Specialist

Carter has recently graduated from the University of Oregon with Bachelor's Degree in Economics. Carter works with our individual health clients analyzing current insurance policies and suggests additions or changes. This includes educating clients on the benefits, limitations, pricing, and claims procedures based on the plan. 



Alpa Giron, Operations Manager

Alpa has stepped into the role as our new Operations Manager where she leads our operations. Her diverse role spans ensuring all team members are happy to maintaining financial sustainability. She adds value in developing new processes and implementing change that delivers workable solutions to provide cost savings.
