The Laughton Company was founded in 1975 by Jim Laughton and is currently under the management of Mitch Laughton. As affiliates of NFP Corp., one of the largest strategic alliance of independent brokers in the United States (*Ranked 9th based on total revenue financialplanning.com June 2013), the professionals at The Laughton Company specialize in corporate benefits consulting, including employee medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance. We also pride ourselves in our ability to provide executive benefit planning, deferred compensation and retirement plans, including 401(k) plans. We excel in the collaborative design and implementation of Cafeteria plans - HSA's, HRA's, FSA's - and human resource assistance tools, in addition to customized business succession plans and estate analysis. We have offices in both Reno and Las Vegas, and we enjoy offering our services in the Nevada regions that our company originated in more than 40 years ago.

Mitch Laughton, CLU, ChFC, AIF - President**

Mitch joined The Laughton Company more than 30 years ago and is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and  Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) with FINRA Securities licenses. As a consultant in the employee benefits field, he has assisted over 500+ companies in designing, implementing, and monitoring their benefit programs and their personal planning. His goal at The Laughton Company is to help the business owner and their key employees in achieving continued financial growth and success both personally and professionally. Mitch has extensive experience in the following industries: Law / Legal, Accounting, Professional Service, Non-Profit, Gaming, Retail, Manufacturing, Technology Development, Data and Programming, Venture Capital backed businesses, and Publicly Traded Companies.   




Mulligan! Mitch is an avid golfer in the warmer months and loves playing courses all around Reno and Las Vegas.





Karen Logan, Account Manager

Karen has been with The Laughton Company for more than 30 years. She is responsible for providing services to small and large employer group accounts with tasks such as conducting employee benefits meetings, producing customized benefit brochures, and handling customer services issues. Karen works under producers Mitch and Brian to assist in developing employee benefit proposals, analyzing monthly claims experience reports and sending large groups out to bid to the marketplace. 





Karen always comes into the office with funny stories about her adorable dogs, Petrie and Nelly.





Debby VanDenburgh, Account Manager

Debby joined The Laughton Company with ten years of experience in employee benefits; she has since been with the company for over five years. She provides Account Management services to small and large employers, statewide and nationally. Debby works with our consultants to ensure client satisfaction, legal compliance, and employee communication and engagement through a variety of tools and services designed to protect your health and wealth.





Debby will take any opportunity to be outside. She loves hiking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter.





Jessica Hix, Account Manager / Marketing Coordinator

Jessica, a graduate of The University of Nevada, Reno, joined The Laughton Company in 2013 and has since transitioned into many different roles. As an Account Manager, her roles include preparing benefit proposals with detailed rate analysis and providing excellent customer service. She plays a crucial role in the successful implementation and ongoing service processes for our small group clients. As our Marketing Coordinator, she focuses on company outreach and engagement through several different platforms and media. 






Jess uses most of her vacation days visiting Disney parks and resorts. Her goal is to make it to all six parks worldwide!






Kate Marsh, Executive Assistant

Kate specializes in customer service and operational support with our individual client relationship. Her primary focus is to retain strong relationships with business owners and executives by offering individual financial solutions. Her goal is to develop a deep understanding of client needs from a service, guidance, and business opportunity perspective. Kate is also our Senior Insurance Specialist and can help with all of your Medicare needs!

Kate served in the United States Naval Construction Battalion for eight years. As she likes to say, "John Wayne made a movie about us!" Thank you for your service, Kate!

Alpa Minott, Operations Manager

Alpa has stepped into the role as our Operations Manager where she works to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency throughout the entire office. Her diverse role spans from ensuring all team members are happy to maintaining financial sustainability for the company. She adds value in every aspect of day-to-day operations by developing new processes and implementing changes that deliver workable solutions to provide cost savings and irreplaceable time-saving solutions to our employees and clients.
